General information about the system Epoxy Resin EPIKOTE™ Resin L 20 with different hardeners

Low-viscosity laminating resin, free of solvents and fillers, for impregnating glass, aramid, and carbon fibres. This system is also ideal for bonding wood, metal, foamed polystyrene, etc. It can be processed in all of the customary methods, e.g. hand lay-up operations, pressure and vacuum impregnation, press moulding, winding, etc.

It is suitable for producing particularly high-performance, fiber-reinforced components and structures in conjunction with glass, aramid and carbon fibers.

Epoxy Resin EPIKOTE™ Resin L 20 with Hardener EPIKURE™ Curing Agent 111:

Application:
Suited to lay up moulding. The high reactivity of the resin system gives a short mould residence time especially in case of difficult laminates and sandwich lay-ups. This system finds particular application e.g. in glider and boat building.

Processing time: 10 - 15 minutes

Mixing ratio:
100 : 27 parts by weight of Resin EPIKOTE™ Resin L 20 : Hardener EPIKURE™ Curing Agent 111

Curing time:
After a room temperature precure, a postcure at 50 - 60 °C may be used to improve the deflection
temperature under load.

Epoxy Resin EPIKOTE™ Resin L 20 + Hardener EPIKURE™ Curing Agent 943

Application:

Owing to its impressive impregnating properties, it is most often used for winding methods in the manufacture of high-strength fibre composite components.

Processing:

Processing time (from 20 °C up to 25 °C): 100 - 200 minutes

Mixing ratio:
100 : 24 parts by weight of EPIKOTE™ Resin L 20 : EPIKURE™ Curing Agent 943

Curing time:

1. 8 - 10 h at room temperature, followed by 8 - 10 h hot curing at 60 °C
2. To shorten curing: 3 h at 30 - 40 °C + 8 -10 h at 60 °C
3. For greatly enhanced thermoforming stability (TG approx. 110 °C):
   Curing as in 1. or 2. + post curing 6 - 10 h at 120 °C with a temperature heating rate of 20K/h.

Mixing ratio:
100 : 34 parts by weight of Resin EPIKOTE™ Resin L 20 : Hardener EPIKURE™ Curing Agent 960

Curing time:
After a room temperature precure, a postcure at 50 - 60 °C is necessary before demoulding.
