PET film Mylar® A 350, 100 cm
Available from R&G, Mylar® A 350 is a flexible, strong, and resistant film made of PET (Polyethylene terephthalate). It is highly resistant to heat and cold and largely free of solvents.
- Large temperature range (ca. -70 °C bis +150 °C)
- High mechanical stability
- Extremely resistant to age and chemicals
- Residue-free removal after application
- 350 µm (0.35 mm) thickness
Mylar® A 350 is suitable as a supporting film for wet laminates and linings. It leaves a glossy, smooth surface when molding. The film is translucent (translucent), and writings, tissue structures, etc. directly underneath are visible.
In our experience, thick laminate with epoxy resin and resins containing styrene (Polyester, Vinylester) require no release agents. For very thin laminates or under compressive pressure the outer layer may stick part-wise.
We recommend the application of solvents, for the optimal removal of the mould. Suitable are Formula Five® Mold release wax, release spray, and also film release agent PVA, offered by R&G.
Technician Tip
(Simone Distelkamp, application engineer at R&G)
When repairing laminates, I always find it helpful to be able to mark out the joint through the transparent film. This allows me to cut and pre-soak my patches to fit exactly, these are then just placed on the repair area and applied with a brush/roller.
