Pullwinding is a variant of the pultrusion process for the production of round and profiled tubes (rectangular, square cross-sections).The tubes wound under tension are reinforced in the longitudinal and transverse directions. They differ in this respect from the purely drawn (pultrudet) tubes, whose fibres are oriented only in the longitudinal direction. The pullwinding process allows reduced wall thicknesses and lower weight while maintaining or even improving stiffness and strength.
